Quoizel Lamps
From its humble beginnings as a lamp company, Quoizel has grown to become a world-renowned name in lighting. Today, the company produces an assortment of fixtures, including ceiling lights, wall sconces, and pendants, in many different styles and colors. A variety of materials are used to create each unique fixture, including mica, natural onyx, and jade. As an award-winning brand, Quoizel has been around for more than eighty-five years.
The company was started in 1930 by Michael Chaikin, and today is based in Charleston, South Carolina, where it manufactures transitional lighting fixtures. Originally, Michael Chaikin worked out of a small Manhattan shop, making one lamp at a time. These days, the company is still run by the same family, and the company has grown to a massive five hundred thousand square foot manufacturing facility. While the business has grown, it is still made entirely in the United States.
Among the components of a lamp, the lampshade is the most important. It controls and directs light from the lightbulb. In addition, it also has anti-slip material that makes the lamp less prone to slipping. The base is a structural frame that supports the lamp shade. The lampshade is secured to this base with a threaded tube. It is then attached to the lamp body using a fitting.
