Psalm 119 – A Lamp to My Feet

lamp to my feet

The longest psalm in the Bible (or at least, it’s longest stanza) is Psalm 119. It is also the longest of the acrostic poems. In addition to its length, it is also one of the most difficult to transcribe, but a good time was had by all. Aside from its acrostic nature, the psalm is also the most complicated, which is not to say it is the least interesting, albeit it does have some flaws. One of the best qualities of this poem is its unadorned and unassuming tone. This makes it a perfect muse for a good old fashioned recitation and a good read.

Psalm 119 is not just a long, unwieldy song; it’s a good reminder of the many reasons why the Lord blessed us with life and good fortune. For a while, a certain someone was a little down on his luck, but a little patience and a few prayers were the deciding factors. He got his mojo back, but this time he is much more likely to take a seat at the table.
