A nipple is used to attach lamp wires to a socket or other fixture. They are available in several different sizes. To determine which nipple is right for your lamp, you must first measure the outside diameter of the bulb as well as the threads. You can use a tape measure to do this, or you can also purchase a special tool that can help you accurately determine the thread size.
Once you have the correct measurement, it’s time to install your new nipple. Screw it into the base of the fixture and then add a drop of lubricant to make sure the threads are properly aligned. Using a screwdriver or drill can damage the threading over time, so it’s important to check them often. You should also clean them when they get clogged with dirt or debris. This will prevent the threads from becoming loose over time or falling off the base of the lamp.
