Look for iconic designs by designers such as Flos, Noguchi and Artemide to score a vintage lamp for less. You’ll also do well to search for makers such as Muc Design, Recycled and Natural and New Times Find. Italian marble and travertine lampshades are timeless classics to seek out (but keep them simple and avoid ornate gilded trims to stay on the right side of chic). Turned wood bases in bobbin or bamboo styling are another easy-to-find lighting staple.
For a more traditional shade style look for plain or patterned fabrics at sellers such as Rosanna Lonsdale, Country Seats Interiors and Bridport-based firm The Lampmakers.
